Fire Door Surveys
Fire doors are a robust fire protection measure, and a regular survey should be undertaken to check the installation and maintainenance
Fire Doors should be checked and maintained like any other life safety system in a building.
A fire door is a door with a fire resistance rating normally used as part of a passive fire protection system.
Fire doors help slow the spread of fire and smoke throughout a building. This not only protects lives, but also protects the building and neighbouring properties.
A correctly installed and maintained Fire Door will :
- Restrict the spread of fire in a compartmented area and starve it of oxygen
- Protect occupants in other parts of the building
- Provide a safe means of escape
Effective fire doors are essential to ensure that occupants can evacuate a burning building quickly and safely, avoiding potentially fatal consequences.
This only applies if they are correctly maintained and in good working condition.
Escape routes in buildings such as offices, schools, hotels etc require significant protection. Fire doors are probably the single most important element in giving occupants time to safely evacuate a building.
Property owners are required by law (The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005) to make sure premises reach the required standards of fire safety. This includes a survey of fire doors to ensure they are correctly installed and maintained.
Fire Door Surveys, Repairs & Upgrades
Fire Doors consist of many components working together. Some of these components can be repaired or upgraded by our approved team to save replacing the complete installation.
Some non Fire Rated Doors can be upgraded to FD30S status, allowing for heritage buildings to keep their original doors.
