White City

Daylight & Sunlight White City

We advice on all aspects of Daylight & Sunlight at White City for a residential led masterplan for this prominent 10.4 acre site in West London.

The site is opposite the former BBC Television Centre and adjacent to Westfield Shopping Centre. Formerly occupied by a Marks & Spencer warehouse, the 4.2 hectare (10 acre) brownfield site will be transformed into a residential neighbourhood set in a new 4 acre public park called White City Green.

The mixed-use development for St James provides 1,845 multi-tenured homes over an active ground floor of commercial, business and leisure space, integrated within a parkland setting.

Bounded by rail lines on three sides, the masterplan forges new connections both over and under the rail infrastructure, looking beyond redline boundaries to stitch together the adjoining media, academic, retail and leisure uses into a cohesive neighbourhood.

Daylight & Sunlight White City

St James commission Patel Taylor to draw up plans for the scheme. Set within 10 acres of land of which about 70 per cent is open space. Three building types — 'pavilion,' 'mansion,' and 'skyline' — will house a mix of one- and two-bedroom homes. The 'skyline' and 'pavilion' buildings will have their own distinctive characters. The 'mansion' buildings are envisaged as high-quality townscape structures. A range of building heights, some rising to 30-storey pinnacles, direct users to the park.

The project also introduces new connections to the site. These include a link over the Central Line underground, providing access to the Television Centre to the west. There's also another link to Westfield shopping centre just south.
