Pottery Lane
We provided advice on all aspects of Daylight & Sunlight for the regeneration of the derelict Pottery Lane site in Newcastle.
The plans for the revelopment of this Newcastle site were drawn up by TODD Architects. Olympian submitted a detailed planning application to Newcastle City Council on 13th December 2019.
The proposed scheme was for the development of 525 high quality Build to Rent apartments. Our Daylight & Sunlight report was submitted in support of the Pottery Lane proposal.
The scheme sees the creation of two ‘U’ shaped blocks. These blocks are positioned to maximise views from the proposed apartments towards the River Tyne and ensure good daylight & sunlight.
Each block will have a private landscaped central courtyard, private accessible roof gardens, as well as onsite residents’ gym, secure cycle and car parking.
A new public footpath will connect Pottery Lane to the north of the site and to the Quayside to the south.
Daylight & Sunlight Pottery Lane
When complete the scheme will provide 525 high quality build to rent apartments. The site is within a short distance of the city centre amenities. It provides good access to transport links, and has uninterrupted views across the Tyne Gorge.
The 2.2 hectare derelict site, south-west of Newcastle city centre had been earmarked for development in the local plan as part of the Forth Yards area regeneration.
It is hoped that development of this run down area could pave the way for up to 2,500 new homes and thousands of jobs.
Planning permission for the development was granted by Newcastle City Council in September 2020.
