Party Wall British Museum

We were proud to provide Party Wall and Neighbourly advice to this award-winning project at the British Museum

The proposed scheme included the demolition of a 1970’s building to make way for a new World Convention and Exhibition Centre for the museum.

Party Wall Advice British Museum

Construction work impacting the Party Walls at the British Museum consisted of 480 contiguous piles around the perimeter of the site. Work also included anchor piling and the installation of 16,000 hand-case kiln-formed glass planks.

Over 70% of the Centre’s 18,000 sqm floor space is underground. The construction work involved excavating 19 metres below ground to make way for this.

The new Convention and Exhibition Centre won the RICS Best Building Award 2015 for tourism and leisure and the RIBA London Award 2017.
